Villa De Zandhoeve, living on the Kostverlorenpark in the green heart of Zandvoort.
The magnificent and unique detached villa De Zandhoeve, built in 1998, was designed by Bert Verwey and the garden was landscaped by garden architect Dick Beijer. The villa was built on hallowed land as it once held the house of the famous Dutch playwright Herman Heijermans. The location on the so-called ‘Golden Bend’, bordering the Kostverlorenpark in the green heart of Zandvoort, is simply stunning.
The unique yet practical design, with the different floors looking stacked on top of one another from the basement upwards, creates a spatial outlook and makes the villa easily accessible and versatile. The architect included many of the details, like the doors to the TV room and study, as well as the lamps, cabinets, doorknobs, and door and window fittings, into the design, creating not only a highly luxurious but also a solid and tranquil atmosphere.
The residence was built with sustainable materials, such as the sheered roof with Norwegian slates, the lead gutters, the natural stone cladding on the façades, cedar window frames, and mineral scratch plaster on the walls. The various terraces surrounding the villa, measuring up to a total of approx. 200m2, were made with a bluestone top layer and the terrace of 100m2 around the pool is finished with Bankirai floorboards.
